Chocolate Chip Cookies

not my photo...stole it from here
I am in search of THE BEST cookie recipe.  And I like to use oatmeal.  Do you have a recipe that you love?  It doesn't have to be clean or healthy, but it does have to be peanut free.  I think that is what I am missing, some yummy peanut butter in there!  Last batch of the camping cookies, I added a little sunbutter.  Almost as good as the peanut butter...

These are two of my favorite cookie recipes, but I am interested in finding a traditional recipe that I like, too.
 I usually add a little flax to these recipes.

Camping Cookies    from 3191, 4 Sept 2009
(i find these to be rather dangerous)
¾ c soft butter
1 c brown sugar
½ c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp baking soda
2 c rolled oats
1 c coconut
1 c crisp rice cereal
1 c chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars, add vanilla and eggs
Sift flour, salt, cinnamon and soda. Stir in oats, coconut, cereal and chocolate.
Combine wet and dry.

Bake on parchment at 350 for 13 minutes or until slightly browned.
    I've been adding Rice Crispies to my cookies since I found this recipe...i love the little extra yumminess in the texture.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies by Terry Walters, Clean Food Cookbook  found on 3191.visualblogging.com
2 c rolled oats
1 c white flour or brown rice flour
¾ c shredded coconut
1 T cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
¾ c maple syrup
½ c canola oil
1 tsp vanilla
½ c dark chocolate or raisins

Combine oats, flour, coconut, cinnamon and salt.
In separate bowl whisk syrup, oil, and vanilla.
Combine wet and dry. Add chocolate/raisins.

Press dough together into small balls and bake on parchment at 350 for 16 minutes.
(they don’t form easily together, but stay together nicely when baked)

This is a link to a gluten-free recipe I'd like to try.

I am thinking about adding M&Ms to your camping cookies. And maybe butterscotch chips.

Now, I just need to remember that I want to try these next week. It's been ages since I baked cookies.

We make this one with a few changes. We half the recipe shown, skip the nuts and hershey bar, and add 3 T. less of flour. It's perfect and so delicious!

Thanks for posting the camping cookies- there isn't much flour so it might be a good recipe to try change to allergy-free.

My fave as of late...
* 1 cup whole wheat flour
* 1 cup oats
* 2 tsp. baking powder
* 1/2 tsp. salt
* 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
* 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 1/2 cup sunflower butter
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 1 egg
* 1/4 cup milk
* For sweet, I add some chopped dates, toffee bits and a little dark chocolate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add sunflower butter and mix. Beat in the egg, then the milk. Stir in the flour mixture and oats. Stir in the sweets. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheets. Bake 12-14 minutes or until browned around the edges.

Shredded coconut would probably be a nice addition too. Mmmmm.... :)
